Willie Van Vickle, b. 18 May 1893, Texas, and d. 26 May 1977 (SS# 441-09-3775) at age 84 years. Obit. in Bakersfield Californian, Sunday, May 29, 1977 - Van Vickle, Willie - Service will be conducted at 10AM Tuesday in the Arvin District Cemetery for Willie Van Vickle, 84, of 1228 Mark St., Arvin, who died Thursday. Arvin VFW Post #8809 will officiate. Mr. Van Vickle, a native of Bonita, Texas was a resident of Arvin 36 years. He was last employed by the Delbert Harris Farms as a farm laborer. He served with the US Army during WWI. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Boucher of Santa Barbara and Mrs. Billie Merritt of Arvin; a sister, Mrs. Molly Timmons of Colgate, Oklahoma; four grandchildren and 4 great grand children. John Van Vickle was born ca. 1867 and it is unknown at this time when he died. He married Lena C. Townsend, dau. of James and Nancy Ann (Askew) Townsend, on 22 September 1887 in Hopkins Co., TX. He may have died because Lena remarried to Claborn J. Henderson ca. 1906.)

Bakersfield Californian, Tuesday, December 29, 1964 (Ancestry.com) Funeral services for Mrs. Helen E. Van Vickle, 65, Arvin, CA will be conducted at 2PM Thursday in the H.R. Bergdorf Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Charles Jones, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Arvin will officiate. Interment will be in the Arvin Cemetery. Mrs. Van Vickle died Monday in her home. She was born in Des Moines, IA and have lived in Arvin for 25 years. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Willie, two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Boucher and Mrs. Billie Merritt, both of Arvin; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Walton of Pico Rivera and Mrs. Jess Spannagel of Walters, OK, three brothers, Harold Harmon of Arvin, Earl Harmon of Bakersfield, and George Harmon of Hobbs, NM; three grandchildren.

Merced Sun Star, Merced, CA, Friday, June 20, 1997, page B-2, Lillian Boucher (Ancestry.com) Lillian Boucher, homemaker, an 11 year resident of Merced County, died Sunday at Mercy Hospital. She was 76. Mrs. Boucher was born May 27, 1921 in Iowa. She was a member of the Lions Club, the Eastern Star, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary of Arvin. She and her husband owned and operated the Couches Jewelry Store in Arvin for 25 years. She was a Los Angeles Dodges fan and lover of Hersey's kisses. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and having a lot of children around. She was a housekeeper for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, G.T. Boucher, her parents, William and Helen Van Vickle, and a sister, Billie Merritt. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Burchard of Merced, a son, Michael Boucher of Mission Viejo; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held Saturday at 2PM at her residence in Merced. the Rev. Castle of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will officiate. Interment will be at the Merced District Cemetery.
